Benjamin Salisbury is Height Capital Markets’ Director of Research and Senior Policy analyst focusing on energy, transportation, and industrials in addition to key events in elections, taxation and fiscal policy.  Over almost 20 years at the nexus of policymaking and investment, he has published highly influential contrarian research on OPEC, oil demand, demographics and shale oil productivity. He is frequently consulted by policymakers, stakeholders, and media outlets for his insights into the nexus between policy and markets.

Mr. Salisbury has 15 years’ experience analyzing the impact of policy, economic, and cultural trends on markets.  For ten years, Mr. Salisbury served as Managing Director & Senior Policy Research analyst at FBR Capital Markets (Now B. Riley FBR) covering energy & natural resources policy and forecasting political and policy trends likely to affect investments, including oil & gas, metals & mining, alternative energy, taxation, and environmental regulation as well as elections and trade. Additionally, he spent three years as an energy policy analyst at Lehman Brothers. With a policy background spanning executive, legislative, and campaign experience he brings a practitioner’s approach to analysis. He served as senior advisor for policy and international affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, where he focused on economic analysis, African and Middle Eastern affairs, and climate change. He also served as a legislative assistant to two members of Congress focusing on natural resources, agriculture, financial services, and taxation. He also has experience as Global VP, Intelligence & Analytics at The Faraday Grid, a firm developing technology to dynamically manage voltage and power factor while removing harmonics.
