Nidhi Thakar

Nidhi Thakar is Vice President of Policy and Regulatory at Form Energy. In this role she leads Form’s global policy and regulatory strategy to develop markets for multi-day energy storage and ensure the long term global commercial success of the company.

Prior to joining Form, Ms. Thakar was Senior Director of Resource and Regulatory Strategy and Engagement for Portland General Electric, where she led cross-functional efforts to advance rapid decarbonization and electrification, resiliency and reliability, business model innovation, and customer products. In this role, she managed the Regulatory Strategy and Integrated Resource Planning teams, and supported the company’s work at the federal level. Prior to her role at Portland General, Ms. Thakar served in the administration of Governor Brown as Chief of Strategy and External Affairs to the President of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Ms. Thakar also served in the Obama administration as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, where she was part of the executive team responsible for funding innovative clean energy and advanced vehicle technologies and the management of a $32 billion portfolio. Ms. Thakar has held several other positions in the non-profit and government sector, and advised clients on energy and environmental matters as an attorney in private practice.

Ms. Thakar sits on the boards of Clean Energy for America, Greentown Labs, Overture, Gridworks, and E4TheFuture.  She also serves as an Ambassador for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) Initiative.  Ms. Thakar holds a BA from the University of Maryland, College Park and received her JD from Lewis & Clark Law School with a Certificate in Environmental Law, where she was a member of the Law Review.
