Vice president, Regulatory Affairs, Puget Sound Energy

Jon Piliaris has nearly 30 years of utility and energy industry experience.  He has been with Puget Sound Energy since 2009, currently serving as its Vice President of Regulatory Affairs.  In this position, he is responsible for overseeing the Company’s federal, state and regional regulatory affairs; all facets of the utility’s ratemaking; and advancing energy equity in the utility’s planning and decision-making processes. 

In his time at PSE, Mr. Piliaris has served as one of the company’s principal expert witnesses, securing approval of many precedential regulatory proposals before the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission.  He has also helped to negotiate, and now implement, a number of highly publicized pieces of legislation that is reshaping the energy industry and utility regulation in Washington State.  

Prior to joining PSE, Mr. Piliaris provided management consulting services to a wide variety of consumer-owned utilities, investor-owned utilities and large end users of electricity throughout the Northwest and beyond.  His consulting work primarily focused on ratemaking at the retail and wholesale levels, resource planning and acquisitions, and utility service area acquisitions. 

He earned a BA in economics from Pacific Lutheran University and a MA in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
